24 Weeks & Christmas

We just had a checkup today and the babies are doing great. Baby A weighs about 1.5 pounds and Baby B about 1.2 pounds. Baby A is a little larger, but they are both growing at the same rate, so that is really good. No ultrasound pictures this time, maybe at the next appointment. Now that they are getting bigger the only blog worthy pictures are normally their profiles, if they feel like "smiling" for the camera at that point. Last week Baby B didn't have his face at the right angle. Before we left for Pocatello on Thursday, Billy moved all of his office furniture in the basement and officially moved the new baby furniture into their room. Somehow the room looks a lot smaller and we still needed to fit in a chair! Tonight Billy so kindly moved around the baby furniture some more until we got a configuration that we think might now allow a chair. So we think we will leave it for a little while to see how we like it.
On Thursday we left for Pocatello to spend Christmas with Billy's family. We had a nice and relaxing time. We received lots of very nice presents including some baby sleep sacks and onesies and even some Paul Mitchell baby shampoo. Our guys will be looking good! Although we might have to save the fancy shampoo until they actually have hair. Billy had hair, but unfortunately I was very bald. Hopefully they will take after their dad :)
So we are finally ready to order our stroller! I know, for those of you that don't have kids, you are probably thinking, "big day." But we are very excited. A lot of people with twins told me I would have to buy at least three strollers. I set out to prove them wrong and think I might have done it (time will tell). So we have the snap and go that their bucket car seats fit on, and we are about to order a Baby Jogger City Mini Double. We are hoping this is a cross between a jogging stroller and a standard side-by-side double. I will post pictures once we get it.

We hope that you all had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We are headed to the Humanitarian Bowl on Wednesday, Go Vandals! And the countdown until the babies get here is 12 weeks! It seems so close and yet so far away at the same time, depending on how I look at things.

23 Weeks and New Furniture

This was an exciting week at the Heyer household. Our baby furniture came in! Billy and his friend Greg were nice enough to go and pick it up and last night Billy put together the first crib. We are still in the process of moving Billy's office downstairs, so we haven't put everything in the nursery just so yet. But at least you can see what we got. This is our "boy" furniture. When we initially picked out furniture we had to have a "girl" selection and a "boy" selection. Billy was also very busy this week, not only moving his entire office downstairs, but installing new lights in the new office, installing an automatic light in the laundry room, and putting in another light in the kitchen.

We had a quick doctors appointment on Monday and everything still looks really good. Baby A is now head down, which is great since they both were breech before. They continue to move a ton and normally I can tell who is moving. We are headed to Pocatello tomorrow for Christmas with Billy's family. Merry Christmas to everyone!

22 Weeks & Ultrasound

December 14, 2009 - Earlier this week we had our 22 week ultrasound. Babies are still looking good and growing like weeds. They each weight about a pound now. We didn't get a ton of good pictures this time, Baby B didn't want to show us his profile as his head was wedged under my ribs. That prompted Billy to call the ultrasound pictures "The Baby A Show." So far Baby A seems to be the more compliant one. Billy likes to feel the babies move in the morning before we get out of bed. They were being unusually quite this morning, so we tried to poke my belly to get them to move around. Baby A gave us some half-hearted kicks, but Baby B stayed quite. He likes to sleep in like his Mommy and his Doodle :)

We had an exciting weekend (well, exciting when you are expecting twins), we purchased car seats! And when you have twins, you get to purchase two car seats. Luckily we were very fortunately to have Billy's Grandparents get them for us, as well as take advantage of a good Babies R Us coupon. We then ran home to try them out with our Snap and Go Stroller. We quickly found out it is a lot less snap, and much more balance and fasten with the strap. But we made some modifications and finally figured out a configuration that will work. I know it looks really big in the picture, but trust me, when you have twins, everything is just that much bigger. We also picked out the stroller that we are going to get for when the boys get a little bit older. We are going to get the Baby Jogger City Mini, the double version of course. Now just what color to get. As much as I hate to admit it, I really like the orange one, but run the risk of scaring my kids for life because they will have a "BSU" stroller. But we will see what we end up doing.

Enjoy the pictures, I am growing daily! Somebody at work actually told me that the other day, so I guess it must be true.

21 Weeks

December 8, 2009 - Today we are now officially 21 weeks! I can't believe how fast it is going. I am on the downhill slide, if the twins go full term (which hopefully they will) to 36 weeks, I only have 15 more weeks to go. Don't get me wrong, I know these next 15 weeks will definitely be the hardest. Billy and I continue to prepare for our little guys. We are working on figuring out car seats, strollers, bedding, etc. It is a little overwhelming, they are just so many choices. My belly continues to grow by the day, which is pretty evident by the pictures. I started prenatal water aerobics this week, which is a ton of fun and actually a pretty good workout. It felt great to finally do something active. The hard part is getting out of the water, you feel so weightless when you are in the pool, so you feel twice as heavy when you get out. I continue to get my monthly presents from Billy. This month he got my a gift certificate to a great baby/maternity boutique downtown. I am really excited to see what they have. Enjoy the pictures, the one of Billy and I all dressed up was before my company Christmas party last week.

20 Week Ultrasound

November 30, 2009 - We had our 20 week ultrasound last week. My parents were still in town so they were able to be there as well. Both babies still look great and are growing and growing. This was the first ultrasound that where we knew that they were boys. And we did double check, and they are definitely 100% boys. So unfortunately as the babies grow the ultrasound pictures kind of go downhill. No more really cute pictures of both babies looking at each other (still my favorite). So we included the ones of their profiles and Baby B's feet and Baby A's hands. Hey, they are identical, I am sure they look pretty similar :)

19 Weeks - Thanksgiving

November 25, 2009 - We are now 19 weeks and tomorrow is Thanksgiving. We have my parents down from Anchorage and Katie and her boyfriend Chris coming in from Portland this evening. We are also joined by Chris' dog Moose and Billy's parents dog Ruger. So yes, that is 6 people and three dogs. We are looking forward to the big meal tomorrow and then just relaxing and hanging out. Oh, and we are just a little excited about finding out the gender of our babies on Saturday. But I almost forgot about that :) Last night was spent picking out nursery furniture. After much deliberation we decided to pick out two sets of furniture, one for girls and one for boys. It was just way too hard to agree on something gender neutral. It was a lot of work and hard decisions, but Billy was a trooper. And my parents so nicely offered to get us not one, but both cribs. We are so fortunate to have such generous family! Enjoy the pictures, as always, I am growing and growing. Happy Thanksgiving! And check back on Saturday for hopefully a video of the big moment!

18 Weeks

November 18, 2009 - So we are now officially 18 weeks along! Here are just a couple pictures of the ever growing belly and a token Doodle shot. I am also including my recent score at a children's second hand store, a double snap-n-go stroller. Their car seats just snap right on to the frame. I originally went in there to see if they had any maternity clothes (which of course they didn't have anything good), but was super excited to see that they had this stroller. It is basically only used for twins because their bucket car seats fit right on it. Billy spent this past long weekend hunting in Northern Idaho. Unfortunately he didn't shoot anything, but had a great time with his dad and brother. I continue to be busy at work with year end and the audit. That is about all for now.

17 Week Ultrasound

November 12, 2009 - The results are in! We had our 17 weeks ultrasound this week and now are the proud owners of a sealed envelope containing our babies gender! We haven't opened it yet, and won't know until the Saturday after Thanksgiving when we cut into a cake in front of our family and friends to see if it contains pink or blue frosting. Less than two weeks now! The appointment went very well and the babies look great. It was a quick appointment, so we don't have a ton of pictures. In another two weeks we will have a long ultrasound where they measure everything. We are hoping to get to see more of the babies and their movement then. So I actually had some luck this weekend with maternity clothes shopping. I will actually have some clothes that fit to wear to work this week. I was also able to get the babies some things at Baby Gap because I had a 30% of coupon. I got some onesies and pajamas, some socks and little hats. I had to get everything in pink and blue and will return one set in a couple weeks.

16 Weeks, Almost 17

November 9, 2009 - So I will technically be 17 weeks this week, but didn't quite get to posting last week. Billy was out of town in Tucson at his annual meeting and I have been busy with my year end and the audit. We think the babies are growing a ton as my belly seems to grow right before our eyes. I am quickly outgrowing a lot of my clothes, but luckily my coworker Jennifer just brought me a ton of maternity clothes today. Thanks Jennifer! Billy will be hunting this weekend, so I plan to go clothes shopping while he is gone. Hopefully I can find some descent things. We have our big ultrasound appointment on Thursday. We will technically "find out" the sex of our babies at that point, but will not really find out until the Saturday after Thanksgiving. For those of you not in Boise, check the blog then to hopefully see a video of us cutting the cake. I will hopefully learn how to add a video in the mean time, this whole blog thing is still pretty new to me. Oh, and Billy was really nice to me and took me to Babies R Us on Sunday and let me look and look and look some more. We think we have found some furniture that we like and have narrowed down our choices on car seats and strollers. Billy's parents and grandparents have so nicely offered to get us a stroller and car seats. Thanks Heyer Family! I haven't felt any movement yet, but should any time now. Enjoy the pictures!

Big Brother to Be

Sorry for not updating for a while. We don't have another doctors appointment until November 12, so I feel like there really isn't much news. The only thing to report is how fast I am growing. The first picture is from tonight and I am currently 15 weeks. The bottom picture is from last week when my camera man was working late, so I had to prop the camera up on the table. And of course just as it flashes, Jasper has to come and see what I was doing. He is pretty cute, so I had to include another picture of him. Billy was leaning against the wall brushing his teeth and The Doodle just plopped right down and rested his head on Billy's feet.

Definitely Identical!!!

October 15, 2009 - So today was our big appointment with the high risk ob doctor. We had asked our normal ob for a referral because we felt since we were having twins it would be better. We started off with an ultrasound (notice all the pictures). Because Billy couldn't come to the last ultrasound on Monday, this was the first time in a month that he had gotten to see the babies. And it is really fun to watch them now because they are so active! We are pretty sure one was headbutting the other one when we first began. Besides having a great time watching babies move all around and even completely change positions, totally confusing the ultrasound tech who had measured just one baby at that time, we were able to have our first consultation with our new doctor. We really like our new doctor and he was able to answer a lot of our questions. He even explained to us that our twins are identical! Because they have a dividing membrane that is thin between their sacks, and because they share one placenta, they are identical. Also, the ultrasound tech mentioned that she could tell the sex (which we of course told her not to share with us), so basically Billy and I took that to mean that they are boys. But of course that is just our uneducated opinion. For those of you who don't know at our next ultrasound appointment (in a month) we will have the ultrasound tech write the sex of the babies on a card and put it in a sealed envelope. We will then give it to our wonderful friend Tiffany who has so nicely offered to make a cake for the occasion. She will then use the appropriate color icing (pink or blue) depending on the sex of the babies. We are planning on having a party the Saturday after Thanksgiving at which to sample this cake. Most of our immediate family will be able to be there, so that will be great. Enjoy more pictures!
