Swimming

The boys went swimming for the first time this evening. We turned down the hot tub and the entire family (minus the Doodle of course) got in. As suspected Silly Bug (Weston) liked it the most and showed it by kicking a ton. He has been practicing a lot in his bouncer, on his play gym, on his changing table, in his stroller, basically everywhere. Carson did some kicking too and seemed to enjoy himself. There were not too many smiles or any laughs, but right after we got out they both needed to be put down for a nap, so that could have had something to do with it. Enjoy the video!

Carson & Weston will be 4 months old this Tuesday, July 27th. It is amazing how time flies! They are now starting to be a lot more interactive and fun. They are now holding their heads up very well during tummy time, putting weight on their feet, and both have rolled over a couple times. They laugh a lot and love to be sung to. Their favorite song right now is “The Wheels on the Bus,” mainly because I sing it to them a lot and it has a lot of variations. Basically whoever is fussing at the time gets added to the song as saying “wah wah wah all through the town.” Their favorite thing to do is have me sing to them as I bounce them standing on my lap. The only bad thing is that they are in fact twins and we have to do this one at a time. The other day the one in the bouncer fussed until it was his turn. Oh the sharing begins. The boys recently got “lovies” from my coworker. A blue dog for Weston and a green bear for Carson. Weston especially loves his and he always has to be clutching something. Normally it is the extra fabric on his clothes (he has lots since he is a long little guy with not a ton of chub).

I returned to work at the end of July and the boys have a wonderful nanny that takes care of them named Morgan. I am very fortunate that I am able to work only 4 days a week and have every Friday off. By Thursday I am very ready to be home with my two little guys, but come Sunday night I am very excited to head back to work. It is basically the best of both worlds. I am also lucky that I work so close as I have been coming home at lunch to see them as well. They love their nanny as she reads to them, plays with them and just overall entertains them. After working all day our evenings are now pretty short with the little ones. Basically we come home, feed them, eat dinner ourselves, go for a “self defense” walk (the boys are fussy at night) and feed them again and go to bed. Since it has been warmer now this past week I took Weston to Target with me to get some stuff. Wow, was it nice to pretend I just had one. I could seriously go out and about so much more. But luckily I have Billy and the two of us do pretty well.

We have had a somewhat low key July but we are gearing up for a super busy August. We stayed in Boise for the 4th for the first time since we have lived here. A neighbor had a barbecue and then we were able to watch fireworks from our living room. The next weekend we headed to Pocatello for Billy’s 10 year high school reunion. It was great to get a night out and have Gramie and Papa watch the boys and for Billy to catch up with some people and reminisce about high school. The last couple weekends we have just hung around here relaxing (we have gotten a couple redbox movies to watch in the afternoon when the boys will let us). The boys did have their second double date with their twin girlfriends Taylor and Marissa. Their parents Garrett and Mandy were kind enough to host us for a dinner last weekend. The kids were all a little sleepy, so they didn’t play together a lot, but let us adults have some nice time to chat. The kids are only 8 days apart so it will be fun to watch them grow up together.

Coming up in August we will be in and out of town a ton for various trips. We leave this Thursday for 10 days in Anchorage for my high school reunion. For a week of that Billy will be with his parents down around Juneau fishing at a family friend’s cabin. My sister will also be up in Anchorage that week and will also be flying from Seattle to Anchorage with us, which will be great to have a second set of hands. For Billy’s birthday weekend (August 13th) we will be in Park City, Utah for a work trip of Billy’s. It will entail some meeting for him with a nice dinner where spouses are invited. I have always wanted to go to Park City so I am very excited and they have a great outlet mall there, so the boys and I will go shopping one day. Then the weekend of the 21st my cousin Meg gets married in Seattle. It will be a crazy month but very fun and we will be able to see a lot of people. I will let you all know how the boys do on their two separate plane trips. Hopefully well!
